1. I listened to a podcast with David Coletto last week in which he discussed Pierre Poilievre's popularity. He pointed out that, while many Canadians have a strong negative view of Mr. Poilievre, there is a significant number who strongly support him. Let us not forget that the #CPC won 41% of the votes in #elxn45, the highest for the Right since 1984. Why has he had such high support?

Lots of people around here are saying that the #CPC should want to avoid an election this Fall. Let me explain the case for an election as a #Conservative sees it.

The Liberals did remarkably well in #elxn45, with high seat numbers in Québec and BC in particular. They did that by offering #MarkCarney as serious and competent, but also as a blank screen upon which voters could project what they wanted to see:

For instance, I just finished listening to the #PaikinPodcast discussion with @justinling.ca . Mr. Ling consistently refers to "America".
A good discussion, by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmrReXrrBec . It wasn't entirely fair to the #CPC strategy in #elxn45, but it did have some fair criticisms of #MarkCarney.
