City's 'next gen' #911 services will enable text, photos, videos

An #introduction.
I am a retired IT person (grandfather to 7 boys) from local government. I continue to volunteer and mentor people in my local city and am looking to follow people interested in:
#GIS
#opensource
#linux since early #darkstar
#NG911
#PostGIS
#GeoMoose
#TinyOWS ,
and people trying to educate the folks that have been grifted by the right.
Not a developer, but a 30-year GIS hack that attended a few Foss4Gs over the years. 😂
Oh, and Exhibit D:
There are, at minimum, 7 required data layers from every single data provider (roughly one for each county in IL). We are all to be submitting our layers separately, while also communicating with our neighbors to ensure that our data aligns perfectly.
It's hard, knowing that you aren't in the best timeline. #OpenStreetMap could do everything #ng911 is trying to do, but so, so much better.
Welp. Back to ArcMap. 😖
I'm working on getting my county's data ready for Next Gen 911. It's definitely a positive move for dispatching generally, but I am continually dumbfounded at how seemingly basic elements of a road network / address locator dataset have just been overlooked or omitted.
Exhibit A: There is currently NO WAY to indicate that two roads may cross in two-dimensional space without actually intersecting. Is it an intersection or an overpass? WE DON'T KNOW.
