I was too busy at #NCTE22 to remember, but November 19th was the one-year anniversary of my #book!! A lot has happened in this year, but one of the best things that’s happened is the number of folks picking up the work and sharing it with others. I put my heart into that book, and I’ve heard that my heartwork is resonating with the hearts of others. I’m so glad that it’s a year old, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I didn’t take many pictures, but I enjoyed myself at #NCTE22… I needed to be with my friends again! I’m usually quite the #introvert, but I have to be “on” at #conferences in ways that can sometimes be draining. I’ve found, though, that hanging with #friends keeps me going! Here is one pic of me with #YA and #MG authors #JerryCraft, #NicStone, and #GeorgeJohnson. I’m so excited I got to meet them in person. The other is a pic of me and some folx I couldn’t do #academia without!

I spent this weekend at the #NCTE22 conference, and I got my entire life. I did the presentation thing, of course, but the highlight of the conference was the ability to hang out with mentors and friends for a few days. What a joy to have so many people I love all in one space! ❤️❤️❤️

I had an interesting burst of thoughts re: nobody showing up for my signing on Saturday. The thoughts about no one showing up aren't new; the interesting part is how much calmer about it I feel than I might have 3, 5, or especially 10 years ago. Levine Querido and Chronicle will presumably both have people there. I like those people! Also, if nobody shows up, there'll be ARCs right there, waiting for me, softly calling "Mike...Mike...we belong together, Mike"

I got invited to #noraebang at #NCTE22 (I love to sing) and while I'm not going - it's even more of a hellish sensory experience than restaurants - I'm happy to have been invited. After decades of feeling excluded (a feeling that hasn't ever left me entirely) it still feels borderline miraculous to be included by people I like and respect
