Very excited to find this Wintergreen, right in my back yard dog yard!

I have surrounded it with rocks, to protect it from marauding paws. I have nearly 6 mostly wooded acres and haven't seen any other plants but this one.
It's the little things in life, I guess! Not a great week over here but this made my day.

Coyotes howling at each other in my yard never gets old.

But uhhh, we also avoid the backyard with the dog on a leash when they stay near.

The dog did not appreciate the howly-howly. "Uhhh, Ma? You hearin' 'dis?"

Oh dang, something hit our downspout though. Something is running away 🐇🐈‍⬛ from someone doing some hunting 🐺.

The Northern Flicker. This colourful member of the woodpecker family recently visited my pond. They are tree nesters and feed on the ground. Their favorite meal is ants.
