One of the perks of the job is meeting the brand reps who visit our city to host events and tastings. Yesterday we had Jack, Shaun and bill from the remote cointreau team down for a trade tasting of Telmont Champagne, Bruichladdich single malt and Mount Gay rum. Plus 2 champagne tastings with Telmont. It was a very long day and exceptionally hard work as you can see. #Whisky #Bath #Telmont #MountGay #Rum #Champagne #Scotch

#Ralfy usually does #whisky reviews, & his style can be a bit off-putting, but he occasionally does #rum reviews, too. This one is pretty good for the wide range of rums he mentions, as well as his comments on the need for more regulation of the rum industry (believe it or not, he's toned down his schtick a bit to make it more appealing). Notice how many times #Barbados rums get mentioned (no less than 4 rums).

@conradcole You may also be able to find #MountGay XO. It's stronger tasting than the Black Barrel, but I prefer the Black Barrel. YMMV.

You may also be able to find #Bacardi 8. It has some added sugar, but not too much. It is the only Bacardi product #rum people are OK with. It's fine for sipping or mixing.

The added-sugar thing has been a bit of a talking point in rum recently. Some people are pushing for full disclosure on the bottle of any and all additives.

@conradcole Out of all of that #rum, I'd say the #MountGay Black Barrel is OK for sipping. It's from Barbados and has no added sugar. It's a bit light, though, so don't even try mixing with it. The #Appleton 12, from Jamaica, also has no added sugar. It's much stronger tasting if you find the Mount Gay too wimpy. It's also an excellent mixer. The #RonPampero Blanco is good if you want a #mojito or #daiquiri.
