Documenting Drugs: The Artful Intoxications of Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz

In pursuit of Pure Form, the Polish artist known as “Witkacy” would consume peyote, cocaine, and other intoxicants before creating pastel portraits. Juliette Bretan takes a trip through Witkiewicz’s chemical forays, including his 1932 Narcotics, a genre-bending treatise that warns of the hazards of drugs while seductively recollecting their delirious effects.

Wir befinden uns hier an der Nordseite der Nouvelle église Saint-Louis de Brest. Die ursprüngliche Kirche aus dem 18. Jahrhundert verbrannte in der Schlacht um Brest am 16. August 1944. Die neue Kirche wurde zwischen 1953 und 1958 nach Entwürfen der Architekten Yves Michel, Jean Lacaille, Jacques Lechat, Yves Perrin und Herve Weisbein am gleichen Standort neu erbaut. Hier sieht man die Kirchenfenster der Nordseite von außen. Im Innenraum erstrahlen diese Mosaike zur Höchstform auf. Ein sehr eindrucksvoller Kirchenbau der Moderne.

Wir befinden uns hier im Schiff der Nouvelle église Saint-Louis de Brest. Die ursprüngliche Kirche aus dem 18. Jahrhundert verbrannte in der Schlacht um Brest am 16. August 1944. Die neue Kirche wurde zwischen 1953 und 1958 nach Entwürfen der Architekten Yves Michel, Jean Lacaille, Jacques Lechat, Yves Perrin und Herve Weisbein am gleichen Standort neu erbaut. Die Kirchenfenster der Südseite des Kirchenschiffs sind recht hoch gesetzt, gegenüberliegend gehen die bunten Gläser über die ganze Höhe. Eine sehr eindrucksvolle, modernistische Kathedrale inmitten der Innenstadt von Brest.
