In December a student was struck and killed by a Union Pacific Railroad train on his walk to school. In the aftermath Union Pacific promised to limit train traffic in the area during student drop-off and pick-up times. But as a new school year is set to start next week, the company has resumed normal traffic conditions, surprising a local leader.

Houston ISD offers to help cover funeral cost for teen killed in train collision, defends school
According to police, a fatal crash involving a train and a pedestrian occurred at around 7:35 a.m. at 2000 Broadway St. near Galveston Road. Officers said the pedestrian was pronounced deceased shortly after. Later that morning, a Houston ISD confirmed that the victim was a student at Milby High School, which is located near where the incident occurred.
