Happy #MicroficMonday!

This week’s prompt: at a professional conference, things go horribly wrong.

Don’t forget the hashtag! I can’t wait to read your stories

I'm definitely going to be following these prompts, thanks for sharing 😃. Also, this one turned out sadder than I wanted it to be. But there was an even sadder version I decided to rewrite, so... that's something.

The man's eyes were dull and red as his thumb hovered over the screen. The word JUMP waited, written in bold on a large button.

How many times had he done this? How many more times could he do this?

He looked across at her, broken and still in the dust that filled the cockpit.

His thumb pressed to the screen.

There was the familiar nausea. The ozone scent. Blue. Then Red.

The man gasped as sagged in his restraints. The sensation never got easier. Next to him, she called out over the radio.

“Mayday, mayday – to anyone who can hear, we’re on a deteriorating orbit and need rescue.”

the handheld display changed, the countdown starting again.

IN JUMP 00:59:59

he muttered under his breath, rough and strained "one more time"

My #MicroficMonday contribution:

An hour was a single grain of sand. She needed more. Delilah toggled off the safety controls & turned the settings back further, ignoring the warning icon. She had to go back to her mistake. The time set, Delilah hit the hourglass icon to activate the warp, and her senses dissolved into darkness.
@ajwentz why do my students keep skipping math class #MicroficMonday

Would anyone here be interested in a weekly microfiction prompt? I’m still posting them to the bird site, but I’d like to cultivate a microfiction community here, too.

This week’s prompt: The secret to time travel is finally unlocked, but travelers can only safely jump an hour away from their present time.

Don’t forget the hashtag #MicroficMonday in your reply!
