Just saw a Kiva loan request come across my feed, so I looked into it. Long article linked.

TL;DR: Kiva started out as a great idea, but has shifted to distinctly for profit. Lenders are not actually giving money to the loan request, but to a pool of money distributed by a mega Corp. Borrowers are charged up to 8% interest. The CEO is making six figures.

Shady and misleading. Very disappointing.
