Finally got around to mounting my #londonunderground car line diagrams onto some 9mm MDF so I can hang them up properly instead of sticking them to the wall with blu-tak.

From Swinton Street, looking northwards towards King's Cross, over the Metropolitan Line cutting. The brick shaft in the centre of the picture ventilates the Thameslink tunnel that runs alongside the cutting. The four tracks constitute the famous 'Widened Lines' between King's Cross and Farringdon. They even have their own Wikipedia entry.

That wasteland may look like a bomb site, but it was actually the location of an engineering works that was still on the map in 1953. It is now the Britannia Street Car Park [pic2] presumably until the developers decide it is time to leak some more units into the housing market. #london #metropolitanline #thameslink #britanniastreet #swintonstreet #kingscross
"The *oldest* tube, the #MetropolitanLine, is one of the best. 83 per cent of stations have a toilet, but only a third of these are accessible."

Not even a mangled shopping trolley (trying to moonlight as a shopping basket), which nearly obliterated the Metropolitan line service earlier on today, was enough to stop Jamie’s #MetLineChallenge. 🥴🛒

160 years ago today the first trains ran on the #MetropolitanLine from Paddington to Farringdon (and probably back again!). Toot toot!

Here's a #postcard of #UCL - the nearest tube station for which is Euston Square, one of those early stations - to commemorate 160 years of subterranean students!
