I think adding #metalink support could be a good thing as it permits handling multiple sources, multiple protocols, better security and so, a better resilience and load balancing.
But i'm not (yet) a developer and not aware of many implications.

@lily Additionally, if you feel like going one step further, #I2P cross-seeding of #torrents is appreciated by the privacy-conscientious (some of us will otherwise make do with the slow download).

Similarly #Metalink (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalink) is a useful way to provide many ways to download files, including #magnet links and HTTP/FTP mirrors.

@clacke so for example, could I use a #MetaLink file to put a music album on the web, linking to an album cover in various file sizes formats on image servers, liner notes on document servers, lyrics subtitles on a subtitle host, and the songs themselves in a variety of formats/ quality levels?
