I’m back to adding alt text on my Instagram images imported into Pixelfed after my break from using Instagram last week.

It’s a shame alt text isn’t captured in the export.

I requested my Facebook archive last night with full quality images—probably a mistake. It’s not ready yet. There’s an issue to add Facebook import into Friendica. Not much progress there now. I really could use some more time to actually commit to working on supporting some of these features. I suppose fear of not doing it well enough or maybe feeling I should be working on other things doesn’t help.

mastodon 1x1 part II

- favorites are gestures of appreciation (likes), but they do not enhance the visibility of the post
- if you want to enhance visibility of a post re-share ("boost") it
- include text descriptions of images and videos; #accessability is welcomed on mastodon
- use lists to organize your startpage (e.g. news / friends / events)
- follow tags of your interest and use tags for making post accessible for non-followers

as i couldn't find the mastodon 1x1, i write it myself...

- if you search for people/profiles add an @ in front of the name/handle
- for writing a DM to someone you basically write a post that is only visible for the addressee. that's how you do it: mention the person you want to address in the post and choose the "selected profiles" option
- tag your posts, so that they can be found
- be patient in the beginning, some serverupdates need time to propagate
