Merce Lemon is a singer-songwriter based in Pittsburgh whose work has been following a stylistic arc from a shy, bedroom style folk to folk-inclined indie rock that has one foot in alternative country. She is pretty straightforward in her songwriting and arrangements, maintaining a DIY quality to her production for the most part. Her songs have a fair amount of soul-bearing in them as well as a tendency to keep to a melancholic tone. She favored a rougher sound in her earlier recordings, where each successive album found her elevating her game until her leap forward as an artist in terms of her craft and confidence on her 2024 album Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild.
