Do I want to spend my day explaining how using "The Ashes" to mean the men's series and the women's series getting the qualifier "Women's Ashes" is "male as norm" or "default male" language, and that referring to "The Ashes summer" covering both series, and using the appropriate qualifier for both the men's and women's series, is a step towards equality, or do I want to set fire to my own head? 🤔
My very first thoughts when I saw the below headline were:
Who's ashes?
Why are they of multiple men?
Are they all stored in the same pot?
You can tell I don't follow sport at all.
EDIT: Marked the media as sensitive as it contains a cricket score you might not want to know yet.
There's always something special about a test at headingley - Lords is the home of cricket my arse - but that morning of tasty tasty aussie wickets was delightful
