This year's Global Game Jam was super productive, Trevor and I are very happy with our resulting game: Emotional Damage. It's a VR escape room with a short narrative.

I did Global Game Jam in Melbourne this year. I’m not much of a Unity coder, so I approached the event with a plan to use ChatGPT to “assist” with writing my code. While I was chatting with some people when we were forming teams just out of curiosity I asked chatGPT to come up with a game outline basss on the theme and it gave us several pages of detailed game design, art direction and sound design! We decided that it would be fun from that point onwards to lean in to the AI - we asked ChatGPT for several decisions about the game and used MidJourney to do all the artwork (there was no human-generated art created for the game, however I did do some image manipulation in Microsoft PowerPoint much to the horror of all the game developers at the event). The results are pretty interesting and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out… however the nightmares from spending a whole weekend reviewing and generating AI artwork will continue to haunt me. ;)
