As funny as Martin Short is (and he's very funny), he admits he's not the top draw when it comes to his new version of "Match Game," because he knows it's the game that people love the most.

‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ & ‘Match Game’ Make A Splash On ABC As Summer Premieres Post Multi-Year Audience Highs

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Match Game made a splash with their summer premieres on ABC

Deadline

I watched Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire along with the new Match Game the other night.

The pairing of Matt Damon and Ken Jennings was fun, and spoiler alert, will continue into the next episode, as they progress towards a million dollars for charity. I've seen Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire before, and it works.

Match Game, on the otherhand, was a disaster. It's not the fault of the host, nor the stars, but rather the statements with the blank were boring or oddly worded. The panels holding A and B that offered the statements didn't work at all on their first day, and you would have thought they would have fixed it between rounds. Nope. Also by the midway point the stars kept getting up and conferring to share answers. What's that about?! Everything about the show didn't work. Doubt I'll watch again. Nothing has ever come close to the original run with Gene Rayburn
