Family of Houston ISD student Landon Payton still seeks answers after ‘undetermined’ cause of death

An attorney representing the family of Payton, the 14-year-old Marshall Middle School student who collapsed and died last August, said a medical expert is reviewing the autopsy report completed earlier this month by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The family is still considering a lawsuit against the school district, according to the lawyer.

5,031 teachers out of the more than 11,000 district teachers have left the school district since the takeover. 10,000 total district employees have left the district, according to the Houston Federation of Teachers presentation Thursday.
