Family of Houston ISD student Landon Payton still seeks answers after ‘undetermined’ cause of death

An attorney representing the family of Payton, the 14-year-old Marshall Middle School student who collapsed and died last August, said a medical expert is reviewing the autopsy report completed earlier this month by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The family is still considering a lawsuit against the school district, according to the lawyer.

Senate Bill 865 was passed in response to the August death of Landon Payton, a 14-year-old student at Houston ISD's Marshall Middle School who collapsed and died during a P.E. class. The bill is awaiting the governor's signature.
