Ytterlännäs Gamla Kyrka - Organ Rehearsal Tape is part of an ongoing musical research where Maria W Horn explores decaying memories of her home area Västernorrland.

Following the 2021 release of Stigsjö Kyrka - Organ Rehearsal Tape, these site-specific compositions result from the idea that events and emotions create inherent memories in a building, object or instrument, and that these “traces” or “ghosts” are available to us if we are willing to listen. The pieces on this cassette are arranged and played together with Mats Erlandsson, on the choir organ located in the church room.

The Old Church of Ytterlännäs is sited in Västernorrland County, at the point where the Ångermanälven river widens out into an inlet of the sea of Bothnia...
