Passage Through The Spheres
The work of experimental musician Kali Malone feels like a meditation on the nature of sound in the way she shifts sonic elements around in a deliberate pace, changing their shapes and shades along the way.

Composer Kali Malone is a Stockholm based artist whose music tends to be a slow moving cascade with rich harmonies that cycle through melodic passages in a slow, deliberate pace. Her instrument of choice has been the pipe organ for many years, though she has also done plenty of work with the modular synthesizer. Drone is a crucial component of her sound, often delivered through sparse orchestration where tones keep overlapping and interacting with one another like the musical equivalent of a lava lamp with all the shapes and colors shifting around within its confined space. She also creates pieces with choral elements and brass instruments, all following the same overall blueprint while giving her a wider range of textures to explore.

A little drone, a little ambient, and a little modern chamber music, our #SongoftheDay "No Sun to Burn (for brass)", a contemplative and quietly commanding piece by Kali Malone, from her terrific album, "All Life Long".
