I’m still shocked that #TCSO Sherff Sanders made the decision to hire one of the cops responsible for killing #MannyEllis in the first place, but I’ll take the reversal of the decision, the apology and the commitment to review #ThurstonCounty crisis response.

Policing in the U. S. is hopelessly broken due to systemic racism and a history of deference and lack of accountability.

Black people continue to be murdered by the state with impunity.

But, happy new year. 😑😕

No justice for Manuel Ellis in trial of Tacoma police officers

The way the trial was conducted was reminiscent of the same stacked deck that has characterized police accountability cases in the U.S. since forever, writes Naomi Ishisaka.

Let's just for one hot second imagine someone saying something like this about #BlackLivesMatter protesters

In #Tacoma the #police who murdered #MannyEllis were acquitted today & y'know...

💔💩🤬

All cops deserve to die. Anything less is a compromise position. #MannyEllis

If you’re looking for a really good podcast about a truly terrible thing, you should give “The Walk Home” a listen. I’ve been listening since the beginning and the latest episodes are focusing on the trial of the officers accused of murdering Manny Ellis. I don’t know how one listens to this and doesn’t immediately begin to think that things need to change. Incredible work by KNKX radio.

“Mitchell said his conclusion — that restraint caused #MannyEllis to be denied sufficient oxygen — was based on a # of factors: Ellis being placed in a prone position, his handcuffed hands hogtied to his feet, with a spit hood on his head; the presence of food & blood in his airways…” #PoliceBrutality https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/times-watchdog/fight-is-what-killed-him-medical-expert-testifies-tacoma-police-killed-manuel-ellis/
