McSweeny said today that he emailed Mandelson with a set of questions but because Mandelson lied in his answers then the Prine Minister did not have enough information to cone to come to the right decision

The Foreign Affairs Committee had asked the Foreign Office if Ian Collard, a civil servant who ran the security team within the department, could attend one of their meetings next week

But the committee's chair Thornberry said the department made the "decision to decline" the request and Collard will only be giving evidence in writing

She added "To be clear, I am satisfied by the reasons behind Ian Collard not giving oral evidence"

There's something not right about this 🤔

Ed Miliband, another close ally of Starmer, said he was worried the Mandelson appointment "could blow up, could go wrong".

He told Sky News today that he "steered well clear of him" when he was Labour leader

So it looks like he trying to distance himself from that 'allyship'
