Read Cody Allen’s excellent review of our woman-led road movie:

"[Where in the Hell] leans into a dreamy Americana aesthetic—faded motel signs, the glow of a jukebox, an endless stretch of road disappearing into the horizon. It’s the kind of setting that makes you want to roll down the windows and let the wind tangle your hair.” – Cody Allen, Celluloid & Society

'Where in the Hell' Captures the Beauty of Being Lost - Review

There’s something undeniably romantic about the great American road trip.

Guess what? We won Best Comedy Feature & Audience Award for Best Local Film (SoCal) at #PJIFF! #WhereInTheHell has also screened at #NFMLA, #MQFF and #SLIFF!‼️❣️
Our humanity is born out of an unending odyssey of processing grief and memories. ALL OF US STRANGERS captures this thesis with heart and intensity, culminating in a tragic final act to an already sorrowful narrative. Mescal and Scott deliver powerful and heartfelt performances, making it undoubtedly one of the best films this year. #mqff #mqff33
The dry and bleak romance depicted in the films of Ira Sachs almost feels like a narrative necessity for exploring insecurities in relationships. PASSAGES follows an unconventional love triangle with a confused, somewhat narcissistic character at its centre. Harrowing and whimsical at the same time. #mqff #mqff33

I watched the excellent short doco The Accidental Archivist at #MQFF yesterday. If you are in Narrm/Melbourne today recommend catching this talk with Julie Peters at ACMI at 4pm https://tix.mqff.com.au/Films/The-Accidental-Archivist-In-Conversation-with-Julie-Peters

You can watch the 28 min doc here https://www.abc.net.au/religion/watch/compass/the-accidental-archivist/13942686 Julie Peters is a legend in the trans community in Australia. She was the first person to transition at the ABC, at a time when there were no role models around her. From her early twenties, Julie started collecting anything trans or queer related to help her work out who she was. Over the years she’s collected one of the most comprehensive trans archives in the country. Including Interview with ABC MD David Anderson.

Just saw THE BLUE CAFTAN (2022) at #MQFF and – wow. Absolutely blown away. One of the most emotionally affecting films I’ve seen in years. Incredible performances, especially from Lubna Azabal (Mina). Walked out of the cinema in tears.
