The New York Yankees have been named recipients of the Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence for 2025.

As part of the #MLBTogether program, this honor recognizes the Yankees’ efforts through their “HOPE Week” initiative, which has provided a local, national and international media spotlight for the charitable endeavors of a wide range of non-for-profit organizations and inspiring community heroes. HOPE Week was first introduced by the Yankees in 2009.

#MLBTogether continued its goal of volunteering 250,000 collective volunteer hours - in celebration of America’s 250th birthday - this year by teaming up with DREAM Series players in Arizona to benefit Foster Love.

Players spent Saturday morning giving back by decorating and assembling duffle bags with everyday essentials for local foster children in Tempe.

As part of the league’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, #MLBTogether launched a league-wide volunteer campaign on Thursday with the intent to achieve 250,000 collective volunteer hours by the end of 2026.

With Foster Love serving as the inaugural volunteer event partner, more than 60 MLB staff members assembled "Sweet Cases" for children in the foster care system. By providing children with hand-decorated duffle bags and essential comfort items, the MLB community is providing support to vulnerable youth.

In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, MLB, all 30 MLB Clubs and Starlight Children’s Foundation provided Starlight gaming units to pediatric cancer hospitals and nonprofit organizations across North America. These courageous young children spent the day playing games with Major League players & coaches, and mascots too!

Starlight Gaming provides opportunities for decision making and problem solving and empowers kids by boosting their moods and fostering a sense of control over their hospital experience.

All gaming units include MLB The Show 2025 to help provide a positive distraction during their treatment and remind them that they are not alone in this fight. #MLBTogether
