Ich habe die Dokureihe THE WAR schon vor ein paar Jahren gesehen. Sie hat mich damals wegen ihres Detailreichtums unglaublich fasziniert. Seitdem weiß ich auch, was ein "Ken Burns Effekt" ist. Wirklich sehenswert, v.a. weil man die Chronologie der Ereignisse viel besser zu verstehen lernt.

Ken Burns und Lynn Novick erzählen in der 14-stündigen Dokumentation "The War" die Schicksale von Männern und Frauen aus vier amerikanischen Städten.

I cannot recommend high enough how incredible & important is the #KenBurns & #LynnNovick #documentary #TheVietnamWar. I'm in no place to argue one way or another about whether they got "it" right or wrong (I do believe they got it right), but it is a profound window into what happened. So many tragedies. I've seen the film several times & am still brought to tears again & again.

Also, we think the USA is divided now, & it is, but watch the #film & consider today compared to then. Staggering.

One of the more interesting moments in #ScienceFiction #writers #history is when they publicly divided over the #VietnamWar. (See link below to a blogpost by filmmaker Alex Cox.)

If you lived through that era, or if you watched a film like THE VIETNAM WAR by #KenBurns & #LynnNovick, then you know how polarizing the world had become then; perhaps much more so than even today. So, #Scifi writers publicly taking sides isn't all that strange, and yet it also feels strange.
