Una parte degli attivisti italiani della Global Sumud Flotilla per Gaza, rilasciati dalle autorità israeliane, sono arrivati poco dopo le 23.00 di giovedì all’aeroporto di Roma Fiumicino da Istanbul, poi gli ultimi a Malpensa. Nella capitale turca erano giunti nel tardo pomeriggio a bordo di uno dei tre voli charter della Turkish decollati da Eilat con tutti gli altri attivisti di vari Paesi che avevano partecipato alla Flotilla. Ad attendere i 16 attivisti arrivati a Roma, un gruppo di parenti e amici con bandiere della Palestina. Dopo mezzanotte invece sono arrivati a Malpensa altri due attivisti italiani. “Hanno raccontato che sono stati trattati in modo abominevole, hanno visto trattare in maniera atroce anche delle donne, che hanno subito pesantissime violenze e molestie sessuali”, racconta all’AGI Maria Elena Delia, portavoce della Global Sumud Flotilla. “Hanno parlato dell’uso di taser, proiettili di gomma. Francamente li ho visti tanto provati. Non so quanto ci vorrà loro per superare questa esperienza, se mai la supereranno”, ha aggiunto.
“Mi prendevano per i capelli e mi tiravano su come trofeo“, oltre a subire violenze, sia fisiche che psicologiche e di aver vissuto per 48 ore in un campo di concentramento. Sono i racconti degli attivisti della Sumud Flotilla arrivati a Roma. “A chi hanno rotto costole, a chi hanno molestato sessualmente ma è stata anche una tortura psicologica. Per andare al porto mi hanno chiuso in una gabbia di ferro di un metro, dove non si vedeva nulla e fuori i cani che abbaiavano e graffiavano sul ferro”, spiega Antonella Mundu, toscana. “Se prima eravamo tornati umiliati ma sostanzialmente integri, stavolta torniamo letteralmente con le ossa rotte”, è invece il laconico commento di Luca Poggi, di 28 anni. “Mi hanno buttato a terra, riempito di botte in quattro, mi mettevano fascette sulle mani stringendole e poi le staccavano via tirandole. Ma ancora, cercavano di farmi uscire la spalla, oppure mi prendevano per i capelli e mi alzavano su tipo trofeo”, sono invece le descrizioni di Marco Montenovi, 43enne di Ancona. Attorno a loro un centinaio tra simpatizzanti, amici e parenti, che con slogan e applausi li hanno accolti per il rientro a casa.

A group of Italian activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla for Gaza, released by Israeli authorities, arrived shortly after 11:00 PM on Thursday at Rome Fiumicino Airport from Istanbul, followed by the last ones at Malpensa. In the Turkish capital, they arrived in the late afternoon aboard one of the three charter flights departing from Eilat with the other activists from various countries who had participated in the Flotilla. A group of relatives and friends with Palestinian flags were waiting for the 16 activists who arrived in Rome. Instead, another two Italian activists arrived at Malpensa after midnight. “They told us they were treated abominably, they saw women treated atrociously, who suffered heavy violence and sexual harassment,” reports Maria Elena Delia, spokesperson for the Global Sumud Flotilla, to AGI. “They spoke of the use of tasers, rubber bullets. Frankly, I saw them very distressed. I don’t know how long it will take them to overcome this experience, if ever,” she added.
“They would grab me by the hair and pull me up like a trophy,” in addition to suffering physical and psychological violence and having lived for 48 hours in a concentration camp.
