Baldini keeps his promise: in June, a very young Italy will be on the field. From Chiarodia to Inacio: the list of called-up players.

It was an announced revolution and Silvio Baldini, the interim national team coach, has kept his promises. Twenty-four players have been called up for Italy’s last two seasonal engagements, with the national team facing Luxembourg on Wednesday, June 3rd (8:45 PM) at the Stade de Luxembourg and hosting Crete on Sunday, June 7th (7:00 PM Italian time) at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion, Crete, for another friendly match against Greece (despite the Greek coach not being thrilled with Baldini’s decision).

Baldini, who will lead the Azzurri in the two matches with his staff, has decided to focus on many young, promising players who already boast several appearances and goals in the major European leagues and cups. The group includes four 18-year-olds, three 20-year-olds, seven 21-year-olds, and nine 22-year-olds, for an average age of 20 years and 6 months. In addition to Gianluigi Donnarumma – captain and the group’s leader with 81 appearances for Italy – Pietro Comuzzo, Marco Palestra, Niccolò Pisilli, and Francesco Pio Esposito are already part of the senior national team squad.

The Azzurri will gather at Coverciano on Thursday evening, May 28th, and the following day will hold their first training session. Tommaso Berti (Cesena), Niccolò Fortini (Fiorentina), Gabriele Guarino (Empoli), and Dominic Vavassori (Atalanta) will also join the squad, participating in the preparation phase for the friendly matches from Thursday, May 28th to Sunday, May 31st.
