Blues ready for the test against Greece, Baldini “Young players are a resource”
HERAKLION (GREECE) (ITALPRESS) – A second friendly match to close the circle. And to start writing a new chapter. Italy will face Greece in Crete, in the last friendly match of June: the national team led by Silvio Baldini will aim to repeat the success achieved at home against Luxembourg, while waiting to understand who will be the next president of the FIGC and the new head coach. “My expectation is not to see a team transformed in three days – the interim coach declared at a press conference -, but a group that must remain organized on the field. When they are there, they must represent the National Team with great simplicity, free to play, playing football must bring joy to the people but also to them. I always have positive feelings because they are wonderful young men, they go to a thousand in training, they have intensity. I always say: ‘If you do this, you will never lose.’” They can accept a negative result, but they will never lose.”
Looking ahead, for Baldini, it’s fundamental one thing: “Whoever arrives must understand that young players are a resource, not a problem. Whoever comes will be tied to the result, but if they let the fear of the result take hold, they will never know how they won.” “We are in Italy, if a game goes badly there is pessimism, but if we never have the courage to face pessimism, we will always remain in hibernation,” Baldini insists.
Bartesaghi also spoke at a press conference: “We must be free in our minds, only then can plays come out. Then you have to put your qualities on the field, we are a good team, this is our strength.”
At the Pankritio Stadium, the confirmation of the formation seen on Wednesday is expected, with Donnarumma in goal, escorted by Favasuli, Comuzzo, Chiarodia and the same Bartesaghi. In midfield, Pisilli and Ndour will flank Lipani in the engine room, while Koleosho could move to the right, with Pio Esposito at the center of attack and Ekhator completing the attacking package. In the last training session at Coverciano before the departure to Greece, the emphasis was placed on set pieces, but above all on the mental attitude that the team must put in place tomorrow evening.

Twenty-four players have been called up for Italy’s last two seasonal engagements, with the national team facing Luxembourg on Wednesday, June 3rd (8:45 PM) at the Stade de Luxembourg and hosting Crete on Sunday, June 7th (7:00 PM Italian time) at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion, Crete, for another friendly match against Greece (despite the Greek coach not being thrilled with Baldini’s decision).

Revolution in Milan, Cardinale and Ibrahimovic ousting everyone: out with Allegri, Tare, Furlani, and Moncada | The statement
It was in the air after the failed qualification for the Champions League, and now it’s official. There’s still a revolution in the club’s management structure at AC Milan: Giorgio Furlani (CEO), Geoffrey Moncada (scouting area manager), Massimiliano Allegri, and sporting director Igli Tare are leaving. Gerry Cardinale, alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is officially taking the reins. This was announced by the Rossoneri club itself with a statement from RedBird Capital Partners published on their official website.
“Following the disappointment of last season, the mandate defined by the ownership for the Club was clear: to return to the Champions League and build the foundations for winning and consistently remaining at the top of Serie A. For most of the season, we remained in the top two positions of the league, with the concrete possibility of competing for the Scudetto. However, the end of the season was far below the level shown up to that point, and the disappointing defeat last night transformed this season into an undeniable failure.
It’s time for change and a deep reorganization of the Club’s sporting area. With immediate effect, the tenure of CEO Giorgio Furlani, Sporting Director Igli Tare, Head Coach Massimiliano Allegri, and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada ends at AC Milan. We thank each of them for the work done and the dedication shown during their time at the Club. Further announcements regarding the new appointments will be made as soon as they are finalized, with the goal of having a structure ready for the next season,” writes RedBird in a statement, a company managed by Gerry Cardinale.
And now? Everything is currently in the hands of Gerry Cardinale and, above all, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose tensions with Massimiliano Allegri in recent weeks were already known to everyone. However, the future is an unknown: names of coaches (including Antonio Conte are being mentioned), but the coach is usually chosen by the sporting director, of whom we know nothing at the moment. Nor if there will be one, nor who it will be. In the meantime, Milan restarts without several key figures: there is no CEO, there is no scouting area manager, the sporting director and coach are missing.
