I want to give the biggest shoutout to local climate activist group Climate Action Leicester and Leicestershire who have been involved to getting my local council to pass a motion declaring they want to end investment in fossil producing companies!

Awesome! It makes me feel proud & excited to see climate activism like this at the local level

Invest in solutions to climate, cost of living and energy crises - not fossil fuel companies

See the petition text at the end of this page. As local Council Tax payers and Pension Scheme Members, it is our money that the Leicestershire Local Government Pension Scheme invests. The globally agreed plan to tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions is being undermined by the fossil fuel industry’s development of more coal, oil and gas fields. By publicly ending investment in fossil fuels, pension funds make strong national and international climate legislation more likely. Investing in fossil fuel companies takes investment away from solutions to the climate crisis, cost of living crisis, energy crisis and green jobs. Fossil fuel investments are becoming financially risky for the pensions scheme.
