It's Thursday so I've been on my usual Wednesday bike ride.
At 41.4km this is the furthest I've ridden in one go since March 2017.
My quest for fitness continues - I suppose I should have been grateful for the headwind on this ride, but it made it hard work, particularly on the hilly bits!
I discovered a handy new coffee place in Kirby Mallory 👍
I'm still pondering entering my 50km DIY #AudaxUK ride next week. 🤔
I was asked to play in a Petanque league cup match this evening for our team (The Railway Rockets)
We lost the first game 13-0 and won the second game 13-4. We were playing The Shardlow Old Crown team.
A thoroughly good evening in excellent company.
Yes we were dodging showers at our #allotment !
We sat out two downpours out in our shelter, but on the third decided to come home.
We had lunch and a cuppa in the shed, but it's not a joy being wet through.
In between the showers:
I got some seeds sown, Sacha got the dahlias and lupins in, and did some weeding.
We came home with some glorious tulips (I'll try and get a photo later).

Cycling and getting fit
I'm back from my Wednesday bike ride.
33km out to Market Bosworth.
This is the furthest I've ridden since May 2018.
This year so far I've ridden more miles than in the whole of 2025.
I felt like a proper cyclist - I was wearing my #YACF top!
I was really struggling on the hills but today's average speed was greater than last week. It was difficult to find a good pedalling cadence which probably shows a lack of fitness.
I'm pretty happy with today's effort.
