Alexey VolkovHow do people enforce tidiness and cleanliness in university research labs? So that things don't pop up in the room across the hall, the scales and centrifuges aren't constantly covered in weird powders, and the bottles with organic solvents aren't resting comfortably in the rays of sunshine? "Common sense" argument unfortunately doesn't work. It's more of a frustrated rhetorical question by now, but maybe someone has had experience with improving such situations. #academicchatter #labproblems

I hate elasticsearch. What kind of stupid system raises fatal errors at only "WARN" level in the logs, and then literally hangs until the end of time waiting for that system configuration to be fixed?
"WARN: you have a sysctl value set too low."
10 minutes later: service failed to start.
