I've been thinking about #collages a lot. And #zines. And this sudden need to be #creative again. I have no artistic eye. My favorite piece of work is a skyline(?) with a bird murmuration over an #HEB sign. Such is life in the #LRGV.
Honestly, I'm loving my current job. (Can't really call it new as I've been working here for nearly TWO YEARS!!!!) I'm learning about two #architects from the #RioGrandeValley - though they weren't born in the #LRGV. They were Birger August Elwing (Elfving on his immigration papers) and Roy Winfield Mulhausen (Muhlhausen on several documents).

I think #HarlingenCISD is on to something with having a fall break. It might be hell for parents, especially those families who rely on school lunch programs to keep their kids fed, but maybe the district can continue their breakfast and lunch programs.

Newly approved school calendar adds fall break for Harlingen CISD students and staff

Students and staff with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District will enjoy an extra week off from school in October as part of the district’s newly adopted calendar for the next school year.

KRGV

Reports of a loud boom and ground shaking in the #MissionTexas area. Folks have been saying a fireball or lightning fell from the sky. No clue what's happening, but it's nice that the #apocalypse chose the #RioGrandeValley to begin.

There have been jokers too.

#Update: According to local news outlets, federal authorities have stated it was a meteor. The point of impact of the meteorite is unknown. I just hope that Jordy Verrill stays away from it.

Part of what I love about my job is learning the #history of the #LowerRioGrandeValley (#LRGV), a place I've lived my whole life (all almost 40 years - yikes!) and still know so little about.

I'm researching José Cantú, a local radio host known for his show Progama Popular, which ran from 1946 until his tragic death in 1952. He didn't shy away from politics and he was critical of the corruption within. Some believe that is what led to the car accident that took his life. #LibraryLife
