Trump’s DEI order forces Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce to find new venue for event

The Houston branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas had been scheduled to host Thursday's Thrive Small Business Summit & Matchmaker event. But the bank informed the chamber of commerce in an email late Monday night that it could no longer serve as host, citing Trump's executive order.

The Harris County LGBTQIA+ Commission made a series of policy recommendations in its initial annual report. Among them are implementing cultural competency training for law enforcement and increasing LGBTQIA+ resources at community centers.

The 10-member commission, led by Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones, was created in June 2023 "to amplify the voices of LGBTQIA+ residents," according to the commission's initial annual report.
