The county southwest of Houston held a public hearing Monday to discuss projects funded by its Community Development Block Grants – money that is given to the county through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In 2022 and 2023, HUD found that the county’s community development department was not compliant with its timeliness requirements for spending the awarded funds.
Thirty years after abolishing its property tax, the city of Stafford could reallocate some of its economic development funds to pay for infrastructure, public safety and other city services.

Tamion Kenon, 34, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon two days before his death. He was found alone in his cell, according to the district attorney's office, which says Kenon's cause of death is still under investigation.
