I managed to repurpose my Vero 4K as a “thin” Jellyfin client so a friend can access my library over the internet with mTLS authentication.

Used stunnel installed on the Vero box to do the mTLS dirty work, and told the Jellyfin for Kodi plugin to access the local port.

I had to add my Jellyfin server hostname to /etc/hosts and hardcode the ip address on the stunnel configuration because I couldn’t be bothered working out the http header and SNI bullshit that ensued when I used localhost:8080 as the server address.

Works grand. All of this because I refuse to pay a Plex subscription.

I really don't get the benefits of live transcoding of #jellyfin like media servers.. As the release copy has been meticulously encoded for best quality compromise, why touch it? Wouldn't it affect watch experience?

I just collect the right quality my network/internet can handle (which is 1080p). My server is just Apache http server for the media folder. And stream using #Kodi! Simple enough.

Kaum damit fertig, meine DvD uns Bluray Sammlung zu rippen und via #SteamDeck und #Kodi ins heimische Wohnzimmer zu bringen, hab ich hier einen Nachmittag einen vollständigen Internetausfall.

Una cosa q no me gusta del ecosistema #linux es q si buscas una aplicación x internete la info es de "la DISTRO q tiene la app" no de la app en si misma.

Sé q no es culpa de la app sino del q redacta xo está, para mi gusto, demasiado extendido lo de hablar de ditros mas que de apps.

Busco media center q no sea #Kodi y me hablan siempre de distros xa htpcs no de mediacenters 🤷

Es en plan "señora suelteme el brazo q ya tengo distro q me gustaaaaaa" 🤦🤣🤣🤣
