OK, that rocks. Let's do that everywhere else. Starting with #Kibin.

Thank you to u/spez for getting me to check lemmy in more depth even though that was never his intention. lol. I am really enjoying the influx of federated group content into my life. I didn't have a reddit account to begin with but thanks for generating excitement and momentum around federated groups.

I realize that I mainly share and interact with lemmy and kbin posts from the akkoma micro-blogging software although I have an account on a small niche lemmy instance. That seems really ok to me, even fantastic dare I say. That is what makes open protocols such as activitypub so great! The flexibility, the openess, the freedom...

I saw this reddit post making the rounds on fedi concerning privacy concerns of lemmy and kbin: https://libreddit.privacy.com.de/r/privacy/comments/146804y/when_leaving_reddit_dont_jump_from_the_frying_pan/ I have some concerns about the validity of the following accusations:

  • “Kbin is sort of an alternative frontend/backend for Lemmy” (accusation made by author of post)
  • “Kbin currently does not honor delete requests from outside of their platform” (accusation made by author of post)
  • kbin is a fork of lemmy (accusation made by a commenter on the post)
  • Am I write to question these?
