It's a dirty trick, I'm tellin' ya. See, #MNPublicRadio #KCMP #TheCurrent is in their pledge drive. The morning show gals talk more than most MUSIC radio stations on normal days, but during the pledge drive, it's even worse. So I'm listening to #WDGY - a regular commercial station. When they do...

I really love #TheCurrent #KCMP from #MinnesotaPublicRadio

It's nowadays 100% of why I donate monthly.

I get introduced to lots of interesting new music, a lot of it from local artists, or originally from the area.

However, although I'm sure there are listeners super interested in whatever guest they have in the studio, I HATE IT when they have a guest in the studio, 'cuz they talk all morning instead of playing music.

I #SufferFromEarworms & I listen FOR THE MUSIC so I don't go insane.

Sad to hear Pitchfork is being shut down. Before I stopped visiting years ago they were my gateway to a lot of great bands and importantly a lot of great 70s rock that defined my grad school days (David Bowie, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Iggy Pop).

Basically anything I listened to between 2004 and 2009 was influenced in some way by them, and this is still the core of my music interests. Beyond the obvious hits from that era, Bjork's Homogenic album became a lifelong favorite.

Indie rock seems a lot less self important nowadays but it's also harder for me to find stuff, partially because as an old dude I often prefer to spin old favorites vs branching out ... and music is so much less part of a backdrop to my life nowadays, replaced by podcasts, YouTube, or just silence.

When I do discover new music it's usually through KCMP (Minnesota Public Radio). They tend to play lots of my favorites too. πŸ˜„

Was listening to #TheCurrent on #KCMP while working on a python experiment, when a song came on I'd not heard before.

I knew immediately it was #CaitlynSmith (who comes from #CannonFalls MN)

And, unsurprisingly, it's fantastic.
