In 1995 Higgins appointed filmmaker Bob Quinn to the RTÉ Authority.
Without serving the full term, he resigned and published his controversial book Maverick, blowing the whistle ... ‘RTÉ was out of control,’ he wrote.
In the summer of 2023, twenty-two years after Maverick, RTÉ became engulfed in another crisis because of the very issues that Bob had been trying to address, and suddenly his thinking and solutions became mainstream.

The #Contemporary #Music Centre (#CMC) and #Chamber #Choir #Ireland (#CCI) have announced an open call for #composers who wish to develop their skills in writing #choral music. The #programme is open for applications until 7 March and will begin in April, running until early 2025.

The finished pieces will be performed by CCI and a recording will be made for archival and #study purposes. The composers will also receive a stipend of €500.
