Fear is paralysis. I know I must breathe deep and focus. Direct it to the exit. Conquer the gap along the rocky path, the rushing river below. I am paralyzed then. Don’t touch me! I say with that other voice I use when necessary. You can’t help me when I’m afraid. I leap when ready. These moments pass. So far anyway. The jeep waits. Down down. The cliff. I close my eyes.
