//And then, suddenly, here was this All-American kid, 6-foot-1, quiet, unassuming, perfect. He was a daily miracle. He hit for power. He stole bases. He played great defense. He hit for average. And he did it all with near flawless equanimity, as if he always knew there was a parent and child in the Wrigley bleachers watching.//

Best thing I've read about #PeteRose so far, by #JoePosnanski: "Every single time i speak somewhere people will ask me, “Do you think Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame?” I respond by asking the crowd, “By a show of hands, how many of you think Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame?’

Always, and I do mean every single time, half the hands in the room go up. Exactly half." #mlb #baseball #hof #baseballhalloffame https://www.joeposnanski.com/p/instant-reaction-baseball-s-ban-on-rose-is-over-96e8

Who Wants to Be a Billionaire?

Woke up this morning with a question on my mind: What would be fun about being a Major League Baseball owner? Let’s make three assumptions at the start. Assumption 1: You’re a billionaire. This doesn’t have to be true. I’m looking at a chart here that says several baseball owners — Bob Castellini in Cincinnati, Bruce Sherman with the Marlins, Mark Attanasio in Milwaukee, Richard Monfort in Colorado and Stuart Sternberg in Tampa Bay — are not official billionaires. But for our purposes, yeah, it’s important that you’re a billionaire.
