The last time a Mayor was truly this dumb was Jimmy Walker, who resigned on September 1, 1932 after there was a great deal of corruption charges against him. Walker claimed that the money he received entailed "beneficiaries," not bribes. Unlike Hochul, then Governor Roosevelt -- running for President -- RISKED losing vital support from the Tammany Hall machine and told Walker "Resign or you're canned." Political integrity doesn't matter to Hochul.
