When (years ago) I heard that (former governor) Jerry Brown was coming to speak at Roger Williams University here in Bristol, I thought back to seeing Daniel Ellsberg at Brown, back in ’73.

I was hoping for an autograph, but had nothing to write on … someone handed me a rolling paper (Ellsberg said, “don’t smoke it” … now it’s lost to the ages).

This time, I came prepared.

I lucked out.

As I said in my prior post I didn't watch and haven't heard the outcome of the debate. But was going to get my first cup of coffee and turn on the TV.

I watched the local weather report. Good news, it's going to be 81 in my part of the Santa Cruz county (CA) coast. It could be a high for the year.

Then I switched to Morning Joe just as they were discussing a new PBS documentary on Jerry Brown "Jerry Brown: The Disrupter", including a live interview of Jerry Brown.

I've always liked him, even though he's a bit of a curmudgeon. And always a bit proud that his signature is on my UC Santa Barbara diploma.

They asked him what are the two biggest problems that he would address if he were in office again. He said, climate change and income inequality.

I miss him as an elected official.
