Since I didn’t get any decent photos in the Netherlands thanks to the joys of air travel, I figured I’d post one more Morocco photo now that I’m back before calling it done. This is another one from the Jemaa el-Fna at sundown, with the smoke and lights from the restaurants and people gathering to eat, shop and watch performances.

The Jemaa el Fna ekes out a rather soulless existence during the day, but that changes quickly in the late afternoon. The warm evening air was accompanied by a scent of grilled meat, smoking charcoal and incense sticks. Finally, at nightfall, various music groups spread around the square and played traditional music on their instruments. This evening atmosphere on the square was really unique and very special experience.
