It occurs to me with the 1/2 decade anniversary of #Jan6 followed immediately by #ICE murdering #Good on #Jan7 that "#sixseven" may take on a more profound meaning.

@anneapplebaum

This is a good overview.

The analogy that I was a little disappointed wasn't included,was 60s America where we saw mass political violence as being completely normalized even as we had those "shocks" to the system of major figures being almost regularly assassinated.

I think that's the concern I have most significantly right now. The growing threat of assassination for political figures: as you mentioned, the attempt to kidnap Pelosi, the attempt to kidnap Whitmer, the January 7th hanging threat for Pence, panic buttons being turned off with them hunting specific officials. With this growing threat, the idea of a handful landing is not even unlikely.

Coupling that with the racial conflagrations of the 60s (later termed "race riots", but more Black conflicts with white power groups) very closely mirroring the racial marches tied into violence since 2017; think this is our historical analog.

Mistigram: We were observing this occasion back on Dec 25th, but many Orthodox (and Coptic) Christian churches (notably not including Ukraine’s, as of this year) celebrate Christmas on Jan 7th, as indicated by this #ANSIart illustration of what just might be #SaintBasilsCathedral in Moscow, as part of AdeptApril’s daily holiday calendar for Storm BBS.

#OTD Sadako Sasaki (佐々木 禎子) was born in 1943. Two years later, she survived the Hiroshima nuclear blast, but later suffered from radiation poisoning, succumbing to her illness at the age of 12. Before her death, she folded over 1,000 #origami cranes, hoping they would heal her. Her older brother continues to share her story and advocate for peace: https://sadakosasaki.com/meet-the-authors/
