#israel / Six Palestinians died in prison since the outbreak of the war, at least two found with signs of violence
[...] many lawyers representing "security prisoners" say that since the war began, the Israel Prison Service has been restricting their entry to prisons to meet with their clients using various pretexts, or preventing it altogether. A lawyer who managed to enter Ofer Prison described what the prisoners told him: they sleep on the floor, cells that previously held six prisoners now hold between 10 and 12, all the prisoners in a cell get half an hour for showers, they are not allowed to go to clinics or meet doctors, their personal belongings are taken from them and they receive poor quality food in small quantities.
[...] IDF Spokesperson's response: "Two Gaza residents died while being held in detention facilities in central Israel. One resident died while in the facility, and the second died during his admission to the facility. Both died due to a complex medical condition prior to their arrival at the facilities. An examination is being conducted regarding the circumstances of their deaths. Any claim of violence or other violation of the rights of a suspect or defendant raised by attorneys during a hearing is documented in the minutes of the hearing, and relevant cases are transferred by judicial decision for examination by the Israel Prison Service and other relevant entities."
