I've been staying around Dublin 1 near where the riots happened recently.
Walking around the streets, you can feel the tension and see the lack of investment in the community and public space.
Hearing Irish politicians refuse to acknowledge the systemic failures, and instead dismiss working people as "scumbags" and "thugs", I wanted to write and share some thoughts:
#IrelandForAll #Ireland #Irish #farright #irelandriots #IrishMastodon #IrelandIsNotFull #Dublin #DublinRiots #inequality
Many communities have been failed by our State. We have not been failed by #Refugees
The solution ?
Standing together as one in love for each other.
Demanding housing,healthcare,services for all.
Equity for All.
While recovering, I'm diving back into Ogam Weaving Word Wisdom by Erynn Rowan Laurie. My studies and practice have taken a back seat the past few months due to grief.
But this right here... so relevant right now. No justification for racist tendencies. #IrelandIsNotFull
To all of those arguing that #IrelandIsFull it is evidently not full enough if you are still carrying insular semi-racist views and I think the rest of us would rather share our societal spaces with more like minded people from diverse backgrounds than with home grown bigots.
In the census of 1841 Ireland had a population of 8,175,124. The current all island population is approximately 7 million.
Patently #IrelandIsNotFull
For a country of our size and in comparison to other countries of our size and considering growth trends across Europe since 1841 #IrelandIsNotFull
Our economy consistently ranks among the highest in the OECD, we are not only not full but have a moral obligation to share our wealth #IrelandIsNotFull
