A late spring haze softened a 59°F morning as we headed out early. On the trail, a doe picked her way through the brush, unhurried. A little further on, a buck stood posed in freshly mowed grass like he knew exactly what he was doing. A good walk.
Caught The Daily this morning — their conversation with Scott Anderson about King of Kings, on America’s role in Iran’s Islamic Revolution. Good discussion, but I kept waiting for a mention of Stephen Kinzer’s All the Shah’s Men (2003), which covers the 1953 CIA-backed coup that set so much of this in motion. The omission felt like a real gap. Hard to talk seriously about American culpability in Iran’s trajectory without tipping your hat to Kinzer.
