Big moment for Nigeria’s tech and language communities!

Nigeria has launched N-ATLAS v1, the country’s first open-source multilingual and multimodal large language model.

Announced on the sidelines of #UNGA80 by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the model supports Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Nigerian-accented English. It was built by Awarri in partnership with NCAIR and NITDA.

What does this mean for language, access, and innovation in Nigeria and across Africa?

At Data Science Nigeria, we see this as a turning point for inclusive AI.
