So apparently the current flag of Illinois is going to stay ​

Good. ​ The flag is bloody awful and needs to be replaced, but all the proposed flag designs were even worse somehow. The second place flag looks like the design a tub of butter would have, and the seventh place flag looks like Indiana's flag and Mississippi's flag had a secret affair child, just to name a couple. They're all so bad.

Current Illinois state flag overwhelmingly wins redesign contest

The redesign contest included 10 new designs, two former state flags and the current one. The current flag received over 165,000 of the nearly 385,000 votes cast.

I'm thinking, "Why does Illinois need to change their flag? The one they have is just fine!" That thinking was based on the flag I always see in Illinois.

Then I learned that this flag is NOT the state flag... It's the city flag for Chicago. I never knew city flags were a thing. Maybe THIS should be the state flag. (After all, Chicago seems to be 90+% of Illinois anyway.) #IllinoisFlag #Illinois #Chicago
