Looking to install two LED strips at home. Desired features:
- Controlled via WiFi or #Zigbee
- #HomeAssistant integration
- RGBW strips, individually addressable
- Either comes with a diffusor or is compatible with standard diffusors (is "not being compatible with that" even a thing?)
- Length: Two strips of ~2 Meters each, ideally with a shared controller and PSU to avoid duplicating functionality, but I'm willing to compromise here
- I'm willing to pay a certain premium not to have to worry about all the technical details (i.e., I would prefer a plug-and-play solution to a mix-and-match "buy a controller, PSU, and strips separately from AliExpress and pray that they interoperate properly").
- Would like to avoid having to buy a proprietary hub to use it (zigbee2mqtt-compatibility would be perfect).
- Will be installed in the bedroom, so it is important that the PSU does not emit any high-pitched noise.
- Should be available in EU / Germany.

Any recommendations from the #HomeAsssistant hivemind? Or should I just bite the bullet, get a #QuinLED and figure out all the technical details myself after all?

Not sure if I have OCD or if I’m just trying to move all my #Hue devices over to #HomeAsssistant . #ifyouknowyouknow
Hab mir mal eben schnell einen lokalen Sprachassistenten in Home Assistant eingerichtet. Für Deutsch ist das ganze aber noch nicht wirklich überzeugend von der Erkennungsrate her. #homeasssistant
I have #ollama working on my Windows machine and talking with my #HomeAsssistant install on my Windows machine and it’s kinda ok. Need to refine some device names and be careful about what I expose but it’s sorta working. Lots of weird quirks like it wouldn’t recognise my desk lamp when i say “turn off the lights” because its type was a plug and not a light (it’s connected to a smart plug). That was easy to work around but it’s going to be a mighty effort to extend this beyond my office.

OK, I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but here you go. https://github.com/aminorjourney/homeassitantconfig

Here's a github of some of my new config files so you can see how awesome and tidy my new #HomeAsssistant is.

My smarthome setup is fully managed by home assistant now. Any new additions must support home assistant natively so generally going to be looking at Zigbee and related.

That being said, there is a small category of cloud based smart devices that I am indifferent on direct support.

Specifically large appliances where the smart features are bonuses and not required for functionality. My dryer and washer are GE units with basic smart functionality, mainly used to report current status and time left.

That's helpful from a monitoring standpoint, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if that stopped working or got creepy invasive.
